SOUTH AFRICA: CITY OF FLOWERS

2004

This art collection was made by children at the Merchiston Preparatory School in Pietermaritzburg, the capital city of the Kwazulu-Natal province in South Africa. These students participated in a series of workshops which were developed by Sue Dance, an international school art teacher and former LIGCA Trustee.

The children used this opportunity to express all aspects of their environment, from traditional Zulu homes and costumes to the modern day cityscape. In addition, they describe the incredible animal life inhabiting nearby game parks, sea life from the depths of the Indian Ocean, as well as the vast South African landscape, which includes the majestic Drakensburg mountain range.
