The Village school is a small independent primary school in Belsize Park, London. The art teacher, Susie Craven is one of  the trustees of The London International Gallery of Children’s Art, and helped to run the art workshops at Casa Suraya working with the refugees in Milan.
The pictures we have chosen to display from The Village School were made by a group of 7-9 year olds in response to seeing the artwork made by the refugees in Milan and talking about their hopes and wishes for them.
They are a small sample of artwork made over a period of time that was showcased in a cultural assembly for parents.
The children in London were given paper that had been painted by the refugee children to use as a background for their oil pastel drawings. The children felt very connected to the refugee children through this process.
